starlady: Kermit the Frog, at Yuletide (yuletide)
[personal profile] starlady
For Yuletide, I got not one but three Space Vehicles fics! Given that I also had a copy of Europa Report under the tree (which all of you should see, yes you should, because it's amazing), it's a very Space Exploration Christmas this year.

Paper Dreams (1244 words) by Anonymous
Chapters: 1/1
Fandom: Space Vehicles
Rating: General Audiences
Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply
Characters: Voyager 1 (Space Vehicles), Voyager 2 (Space Vehicles), Original Female Character(s), Original Child Character(s)
Additional Tags: Science, Building by hand, Development Process, POV Female Character
Summary: The Voyager craft were never meant to live longer than her, and yet here they are, and she's not sure that the spacecraft know how to stop any longer.

Escapist (1554 words) by Anonymous
Chapters: 1/1
Fandom: Space Vehicles
Rating: General Audiences
Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply
Characters: Voyager 2 (Space Vehicles)
Additional Tags: Science, IN SPACE!, Loneliness, Anthropomorphic
Summary: T+36 years and 125 days.

Voyager 2 drifts in space, even as her body only moves in one direction, grateful that she still has a working chronometer, grateful that a sense of time is as necessary to the instrumentation as it is to Voyager's own sense of self.

These two are in the Yuletide collection proper. "Paper Dreams" is a human POV on Voyager (which I confess I never thought about), while "Escapist" has the spacecraft contemplating her own existence, and they are both lovely.

This one is from Yuletide Madness, and it's a poem!

I never know exactly what to expect from Yuletide, but all three of these fics were just what I wanted, and I love all of them. Thank you, Yuletide writers! You've given me a very happy Yuletide indeed.
