I talk about books, movies, manga, and anime, approximately in that order of frequency, with the majority of books being sff, "literary fiction," and history, up to and including academic texts. I self-identify as an historian, and consider Asian Studies my (inter-)disciplinary home. (NB: If you can see a post, I welcome your comments no matter how old it is, particularly on discussion posts. Also, I prefer that my legal name not be associated with this journal.) I recently wrote this longer intro post.

I also translate manga from the Japanese. I post translations on this journal for completeness' sake, but the bulk of the commenting on those posts takes place at my LJ account, [livejournal.com profile] starlady38, where my policies regarding credit and sharing can be found. Additionally, I am the admin of [community profile] thebainherald, a DW community dedicated to the works and fans of Garth Nix, and co-admin of [community profile] sagarawest, a DW community for the works and fans of Michelle Sagara West.

Feel free to add me if I seem interesting to you (I usually add back, but of course I don't expect to be added if I've added you), and feel free to jump in and correct me if I seem wrong, or ignorant, or privileged. As I say above, I have a lot of opinions, but I'm working on learning when to shut up and listen (hint: way more often than I'd think). It's not my intention that this journal be a haven for any kind of privilege or oppression, but intentions, to quote Robert Burns, "gang aft aglay."
