Posting to wish you a (very late) happy birthday. :D I think that, once I've finished with Little Dorrit and Kusamakura, I'll pick up another short-story anthology to read (most likely science-fiction). I nearly lived off on them while in high school.
Also, was there something specifically in The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle that made you feel nauseous, or was it the tone throughout the whole book? (Kafka on the Shore did that for me, but there was much more by way of disturbing content there, I think.)
