What's even more interesting to me is that they read as a typically Japanese husband and wife, especially in those first panels when you didn't know why Doumeki was in a suit and that he was still in college. The salaryman image at the beginning was really strong and something that I bet CLAMP did on purpose, though they took that impression away a bit with the student reveal. Like, even though they're not actually a housewife/salaryman pair, that's still the kind of dynamic they wanted to get across? Even the conversation later on, ("How many times do you have to bring this up?" "As many times as I want to, dear") sounds like a very typical 'married' conversation to me.
