'Tis the (fannish) season

So it's October, my favorite month of the year. It's been my favorite month for a while now, but recently one of the cool things about October, to me, is that it's the OTW's Donation Drive. October will get you, for $50 or more, an OTW stickers/iron-ons pack, while $100 or more gets you the awesome OTW coffee mug, and $120 or more will get you both. Coffee mugs, stickers, supporting transformative works, fandom, and fans globally: what more could you want?

You could want a cat macro you say? Have a cat macro!

OTW: swearz

The OTW has done a lot of cool things this year and has a lot of cool things coming down the pike (cough! the AO3! cough!). It only takes a $10 USD donation to become a member, which gets you voting rights, not to mention bragging rights. And as[personal profile] wintercreek noted, you'll be joining a community of the like-minded, which is always a little bit like coming home.

It really is, isn't it? \o/

(here via a delicious link; just thought I'd chime in. :-)

Ooh, I think I should join this! I read about it in the latest issue of the Society for Cinema and Media Studies journal, but then I forgot again. Thanks for bringing it back into my crowded little brain!

Yeah, you totally should, 'cause we're awesome. You should totally check out the OTW journal, Transformative Works and Cultures, too--every issue is online for free via the website, and it's peer-reviewed and fascinating.

I just took your survey, and am planning to blurb it with my next few translation posts.

Thanks very, very much!
