(Is it Okorafor or Okorafor-Mbachu? Her website just says Okorafor, and her bio on there doesn't mention a husband (unlike the jacket copy), so I've been assuming that she got divorced and have adjusted her name in these reviews accordingly.)
Yeah, that's unquestionably one of the advantages of portraying Zahrah as underconfident; her growth is incredibly believable, particularly since a lot of her survival early on is dumb luck.
Also, Okorafor's creatures are amazing. Biology background FTW!
