Tati was a comic film director, writer, and actor whose movies rarely have much dialog -- his training was as a mime, and it shows in both the quietness and focus on the humor of daily life situations. I adore Mr. Hulot's Holiday and Mon Oncle has its moments, but he's much of an acquired taste. The summary makes this sound partly like typical Tati and partly rather not, in the parasitic relationship part. But then, his movies rarely touch on family relationships, so I don't know what his typical take on those would be.
