Yeah, I mean, is it the most evil thing ever, no. But I do think it's a holdover from the days when only male property owners of a certain age could vote and U.S. Senators were chosen by…was it state assemblies, or just state governors? I don't think direct election would have an adverse effect on political campaigns; I do think it would put an end to the artificial importance of more populous states in campaign maths.
