Plenty of people have liked it--it's currently the #2 best reviewed summer movie on Rotten Tomatoes, for example. For me, the problem of the character/protagonist split was way too fundamental; I think that's a big part of why the story was so weak. I also think that Pixar's best movies can be appreciated by basically all audiences throughout the entire movie; I have my doubts about this one.
