And now I must go sleep the sleep of those who will have to shovel out their cars for work in the morning.

Watanuki: …Yes.
I'm sorry.
Himawari: You have nothing to apologize for, Watanuki-kun.
You're always thinking of me.
I understand that.
Watanuki: Even so,
…I'm sorry.

Himawari: But,
I'll definitely go on April 1,
To the store.
With everyone, to congratulate you on your birthday, Watanuki-kun.
I promise that.

Himawari: What?
Watanuki: Thank you.

Watanuki: Yeah.
Meet her the day after tomorrow.
There's something I want you to give her.
Doumeki: Got it.
Watanuki: Dinner?
Doumeki: I haven't eaten.
The stuff you asked for is in the kitchen.

Watanuki: You're ready and willing to eat here, aren't you? Like always.

Watanuki: Maru, Moro--Help me with the prep for dinner.

Mokona: Are you
Meeting with Himawari, Doumeki?
Doumeki: Yeah.
She wants to know how Watanuki's doing.

Doumeki: Since Kunogi promised that she wouldn't enter this shop more than once a year.
Mokona: To Watanuki,
Right.
Assorted customers come to this shop.
Their requests are assorted too.
And it's not just good and beautiful things in the treasure room, either.
For Himawari,
Here isn't good.
Not at all.

Doumeki: …That so?
Mokona: I think Yuuko made the same decision when she was owner.
After she granted your and Himawari's wish in the store, Doumeki.
The only time she invited Himawari was for Watanuki's birthday.
Doumeki: Really.
Mokona: But what Watanuki realized besides that,
When he inherited the store, was that about a year had passed.
In a year, Watanuki's power had certainly grown strong…

Doumeki: He said that to Kunogi when she came to wish him a happy birthday, didn't he?
That it'd be better if she didn't come.
Mokona: Watanuki can't leave here.
But--
FX: Nod
Crossing and meeting in dreams has an ill effect on Himawari's nature.
So he told her not to come to the store, but--
Doumeki: Kunogi didn't agree.
Mokona: So that's why they can only meet and talk once a year.
They decided to meet in the store on Watanuki's birthday.

Mokona: Right.
Were you with them then, Doumeki?
Doumeki: I heard it afterward from Kunogi.
If they can only meet face-to-face once a year,
She asked me to let her know as much as I could about him.
Mokona: I see.
Doumeki: He's important to Kunogi.
Mokona: It's the same for Watanuki.
He's always doing his best to use all the techniques he remembers
So that the store can become even a little bit better for Himawari.

I like Himawari too. She seems to get the really short end of the stick in this story.

And eeeh, the girl's line towards the end there is kind of creepy.

And yay OT3!

Regardless, I think Doumeki's devotion to Watanuki is pretty much canon. The food can't be that good that he'd tolerate Watanuki ordering him around otherwise. :-/

At the beginning of this new arc, though, I remember you saying that you had first translated "pearl" with "butterfly". Are these two words similarly written in Japanese? Because I think you could have been not totally wrong; Yuuko was certainly a "crimson butterfly", and now Watanuki has taken her place.
Add to that the fact that the mysterious girl made a promise to the Spider Lady, and the whole situation suddenly looks like a trap, I'd say.
no subject
Do they look similar? Not really, which is why it's embarrassing. 胡蝶 vs. 真珠。Though, intriguingly, 蝶貝 means 'pearl oyster' but is written with 'butterfly', so...hmm. I'll have to look in my SRS BZNS dictionary.

"Aishiteru" is very rarely used.
no subject
Does Watanuki use "daisuki" too?
And when can Aishiteru be used? Was it ever used in a Clamp manga?
no subject
From my experience talking to people and what I know of the culture, aishiteru is almost never used. Even married couples don't generally use it. I think it's considered "too much" to actually say to somebody. (Off the top of my head, the only time I remember hearing it used in anime is ones aimed at girls with very romantic themes, like Fushigi Yuugi, or only the woman uses it.) Just about everywhere, it's "daisuki" or "suki" no matter how epic the love may be (like Sakura and Shaoran.)
I'm far from the end-all-be-all on the culture, but that's just what I know.

You have a point, certainly, and I'll probably change it, since it is somewhat impolite to talk as though you know other people's emotional states definitively. But I think the "daisuki" is pretty unequivocal, in context. ^^

Thank you for the translation, even if I am pretty much clueless~!
