If I were in my right mind at the moment (as opposed to my left) I would actually be more overwhelmed by these things than I am, but this is one of the upsides of being swamped with work; it numbs the impact of any one emotional stimulus. But! Two authors whom I very very very much LOVE, Aliette de Bodard and N.K. Jemison, have books coming out quite soon after the new year, and they have started posting sample chapters (ee!) and book trailers and other such awesome things.
Jemison (aka
nojojojo) first: her novel is The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms, and when she explained it to me in New York in May it sounded pretty amazing, and I have heard nothing but awesome things since then. Go forth and read!
Bodard (aka
aliettedb) following: her novel Servant of the Underworld features a priest-detective in the Triple Alliance (aka the Aztec Empire) and having read various stories about the priest, Acatl, I'm just beside myself, literally. Have sample chapters! Have an interview! Watch the book trailer!
