xxxHOLiC 158 translation

I suppose the reason that doujinshi aimed at heterosexual men are few on the ground in Japan is that the mainstream magazines give them plenty of what they want. Man, Young Magazine is smutty. But hey, it's what xxxHOLiC runs in, so there we are. Raws will hopefully be forthcoming tomorrow (actually, I'm sort of looking forward to scanning this in Doshisha's library) if at all possible. Edit: Seems like
kei_san77 came to the rescue on the raw front. Many thanks.
[page 1]
FX: Without a hitch
Kohane and Watanuki are cooking together.
Watanuki: How is it, Kohane-chan?
Kohane: All right.
FX: Intent
[page 2-3]
In order to grant a wish
he paid a price.
That was his very own memories.
[page 4]
Watanuki: Yes,
FX: Boiling lightly
You're doing fine.
Kohane: Because your way of teaching is good, Kimihiro-kun.
Watanuki: You're clever, Kohane-chan.
Fortune-teller: That's right.
You're both good kids.
[page 5]
Well, well.
It looks delicious.
Seems you included spiniach and meatballs.
In a little while you've become able to do anything,
Kohane-chan.
FX: Huh?
FX: Munchmunchmunchmunch
[page 6]
Watanuki: You're munching the sembei like a roden!! [T/N: Sembei = Japanese rice crackers]
FX: Rattle
FX: Munching
Doumeki: I was called.
FX: Munch
Watanuki: It would've been fine if you hadn't called this guy, Kohane-chan!
Kohane: I wanted to see Shizuka-kun.
Since I wanted him to eat the things I'd made.
FX: Damn!
FX: Clicking
[page 7]
Watanuki: Sheesh,
"Shizuka-kun" is just too unfitting! You're a Doumeki!
FX: Shutup...
FX: Munch munch
FX: Rough movement
Doumeki: Munch.
Watanuki: You said "munch" with your mouth full just now, didn't you! You meant "tea" by that didn't you!!
Fortune-teller: You get along well, I see.
FX: Chuckling
Watanuki: Somehow all members of the female camp misunderstand!!
FX: Collapse
[page 8]
Kohane: ...Thank you.
For bringing me here.
Fortune-teller: What do you have to thank me for?
For letting me receive this loveable young miss,
The one who has to be grateful to Yuuko-chan is me.
(flashback)
Yuuko: Even though your power has disappeared and the rumors have ended,
I did nothing to your mother.
[page 9]
I can only receive a price from the outside.
On the inside, only oneself can change oneself.
Kohane: ...Right.
Yuuko: What's necessary for your mother is to be alone.
If she's alone,
She won't just know, but will understand
[page 10]
What has to change.
Kohane: Until then it's best that I not be with her, isn't it.
Yuuko: ...That's right.
Watanuki: But Kohane-chan alone...
Mokona: What about Doumeki's house.
It's huge.
Watanuki: WHAT!?
[page 11]
Doumeki: I don't mind.
There are rooms.
Kohane: ...Thanks.
Watanuki: What--!?
If that happens, I'll be going to his house even if I'm meeting Kohane-chan!?
FX: Somehow I don't like it!!
Yuuko: if your grandfather were alive, that would be all right.
In the interrval you wait for your mother, it would be good if you became a bit more used to using your power of sight.
Kohane: Yes.
Yuuko: In that case,
Shall I ask that person?
[page 12]
(end flashback)
Kohane: But,
Even though you're letting me stay here like this,
And you're teaching me so many things as well,
I...can't give anything back.
Fortune-teller: I told various fortunes.
I learned techniques to see people and stars and paths.
When I die, that would all be lost,
But if Kohane-chan inherits them and remembers,
It won't be an end.
[page 13]
My and Kohane-chan's connection will always continue,
And I've never been so happy.
[page 14]
Kohane: ...Thank you.
I'm truly happy too,
That I met you.
[page 15}
Fortune-teller: Oh, well, our hard-earned food will get cold.
FX: Big reveal
Doumeki: I brought this from the storehouse.
I heard you were a drinker. [T/N: The sake he's holding says it was bottled in the Showa era, meaning it's at least 20 years old, probably more. Very expensive, very good.]
Watanuki: You--!
So arrogant despite being a minor!
Fortune-teller: Well, well, my being a drinker isn't limited to the past. A fourth bottle won't carry me off.
FX: Throbbing pain
[page 16]
Watanuki: If she said a fourth bottle was too much, would that mean she could drink three?
Fortune-teller: For sake kept in reserve,
We'll have to drink with the cut crystal glasses kept in reserve.
FX: Now then
Kohane: I'll get them.
Fortune-teller: They're on a shelf in the inner room,
But it's high.
Watanuki: Hey, work for a change.
FX: Smooth
Doumeki: Since I'm higher,
In height.
FX: SICK with anger
Watanuki: JUST A LITTLE!!
Amazingling little!!
[page 17]
FX: Door slamming
Watanuki FX: Hmph
Fortune-teller: That boy, he's the one I saw before,
"With whom you'll have nothing but fights."
FX: Anger
Watanuki: Tha--
that's right.
Fortune-teller: It looks live you've become close.
Watanuki: Unwillingly!
Fortune-teller: That you've become close with him
Is because you've changed, Kimihiro-kun.
[page 18]
Watanuki: ...Changed?
Have I?
Fortune-teller: You should know that best of all, Kimihiro-kun.
[page 19]
Watanuki: ...Indeed.
Fortune-teller: Yuuko-chan's changed too.
Watanuki: Huh?
(Framed letter reads: The hidden world is a dream, like the very truth of a night's memory. --Yuuko)
Fortune-teller: Since she met you, Kimihiro-kun.
[page 20]
Watanuki: ...Yuuko-san...too?
Doumeki: These?
Kohane: I think so.
Um, Shizuka-kun.
Doumeki: What?
Kohane: Um,
...About Kimihiro-kun.
I'm still staring at Yuuko's calligraphy. I'm reasonably certain of the letter's general meaning, but not exactly what the character after "night's" is. Damn it Clamp. "The hidden world" could also be rendered "the world behind" or "the world on the other side."The world isn't just one to those who know it after all. Seriously, I welcome alternate suggestions for transcription/translation of that bit.
Also, I wonder if Doumeki's grandfather knew the fortune-teller? There's something about that "I heard"/"the past" in their exchange that makes me wonder.
After all this time, the contrast between Kohane's calling him "Shizuka-kun" and Watanuki persisting in not even referring to him by name is quite striking. But I'm getting the sense that it may be partly an act. Or perhaps both Watanuki and the Shaoran clone share an inability to know themselves?
At this point, one of my biggest questions is: Is there one volume's worth of material left, or two?
