starlady: a circular well of books (well of books)
I am never flying to Ithaca from anywhere on the East Coast again ever. More on that and the continuing grad school saga (yes, I'm getting bored with it too) later.

Transformative Works and Cultures vol. 4, the special Supernatural issue, has been released! TWC is dear to my heart, and I look forward to reading this volume, but [personal profile] coffeeandink has a passing comment on at least one of the essays in her great, great post Religion ≠ Christianity that will bear keeping in mind.

Via [livejournal.com profile] zahrawithaz, [personal profile] shewhohashope has a great post on "victorientalism" (ugh, I don't even like typing that word, I'm purposely leaving off the caps) and the construction of knowledge. She links to various people's posts on the topic, including [personal profile] deepad and [personal profile] dmp, whose DWs are consistently wonderful.

[personal profile] troisroyaumes has some links to recommendation lists of international sf (and manga).

I feel like these compendia of links to other people are becoming a more frequent part of this journal. It's all your fault, reading list, for being so consistently awesome. On which note, I am definitely going to be participating in [personal profile] erda's Three Weeks for Dreamwidth fest. I have a lot of undergraduate essays which deal with fantasy books and anime that I think I am going to spruce up and post. (Sometimes I wonder how I managed to miss my own multivalent interest in popular culture for so long. Then I realize that I am a product of my education and I don't wonder anymore. Fandom has done wonders for me in that respect, as in so many others.)
