Yeah, I was sort of annoyed by the "the Blight is a volcanic gas!" thing. No, it's clearly not, though I thought their ramifications were dealt with fairly reasonably.
At times too the prose sounded a bit off-note to me, but I usually chalk that up to personal taste.
