I could say I am following the movie and beg the question, but that is Not On. So...hmm, I suspect the easiest solution would just be to remove the word "veterans'" and call it good. Because this isn't even the damn story.
I think the weave of the net is fairly solid, but of course I am not necessarily the best judge of that, and I have sworn off info-dumping in-text to the best of my ability. So there will probably be a very long meta-post about the worldbuilding itself here at some point.
