starlady: Kermit the Frog, at Yuletide (yuletide)
[personal profile] starlady
Dear Yuletide writer,

First, thank you so much for participating in Yuletide this year! Second, thank you for agreeing to write a story in a fandom we both love, or at least remember fondly. I'm genuinely interested to see what caught other fans' interests about all of these sources, so please don't feel that my prompts are too binding. I'd rather have an inspired story than slavish devotion to my requests. If you're looking for more of a sense of me and my tastes, skimming through the last twenty entries on my DW will probably give you a good idea; most of the entries in general are unlocked.

I hesitate to say what I do or don't like in fic--I don't have any major squicks, and no firm principles as to what I will or won't read. That said, it's my general sentiment that Yuletide is not the place to go looking for PWP, at least for me; which isn't to say that I wouldn't want sexytimes, as it were, in any story you write, but which is to say that I generally like my sexytimes to go along with plot and characterization. And as you may have guessed from these requests, I do really like women being awesome. In some ways, really, my own fics demonstrate both these preferences very well.

Disney Princess Superheroes

I may be a fandom of one here! But I have been obsessed with this fanart since I saw it, and I genuinely would love to receive absolutely anything written about it--despite the character requests, any combination of the princess superheroes would be amazing! (I tend to picture Snow White as something of a reformed vampire, while Cinderella reads as a clear Superman-analogue, i.e. she's an alien, fwiw.) This is practically an original fic request, I admit, but anything you can do would truly make my Yuletide.

Their Majesties' Bucketeers - L. Neil Smith

If we've matched on this fandom, I salute you for your knowledge of an obscure pro fanfic fandom! Basically, I am interested in what happens between the end of the events of the book and the landing of the Tom Paine Maru, in an OT3 sense, because really, Mav/Mymy/Vyssu is pretty much awesome. I am happy with anything, really, though Mav's libertarianism and colonial background are both fascinating and grating to me; I hesitate to say that I would want them ignored, per se, but I wouldn't mind them being de-emphasized, depending on which way your plot bunny leads you. My review of the book is here; I'm particularly interested in the implications of the lamviins' trisexuality, which I don't think Smith confronts fully. But really, anything you wanted to write would be awesome. Sherlock Holmes (OT3) forever!

Threadless T-Shirt Designs (We've Got Some Work to Do Now)

Thelma, Scooby, and the zombie apocalypse: the geek girl survives! I'll take anything for this, really, though I have a preference for semi-ironic semi-meta commentary-in-narration on the transition from the TV show to the zombie apocalypse (and I actually like Daphne, so I'm kind of sad she didn't survive), as well as Thelma + Scooby being awesome and/or solving mysteries. I actually sort of hate the TV show, because I can't stand Shaggy at all, but I own this T-shirt, and the idea of fic about Thelma and Scooby making their way through the zombie apocalypse on, presumably, their wits and their reflexes appeals to me deeply. I am sad, though, that the canon apparently killed off Daphne, because I don't think she gets her due as a case-solver in her own right most of the time, and her reaction to the zombie apocalypse would have been interesting. Um. Am I encouraging a reincarnation AU or a different interpretation of canon? Well, whatever; anything you write would be awesome.

The Real Adventures of Jonny Quest

This is my annual "pick a random childhood TV show for my fourth request!" request. This year it's Jonny Quest. I've seen a few episodes of the original, but the remake was just so awesome, seriously. Action! Adventure! Science! John de Lancie voicing Dr. Quest half the time! (Actually, if memory serves, Michael Dorn voiced a few characters too. Crossover?) I loved this show for its mix of science-y whatnot and action, but I always felt that Jessie was held back from being as awesome as she clearly was by the writers. So, something with Jessie being awesome, please! And if possible, I'd prefer no cross-generational pairings in this fandom (though I have no problems with same-generational pairings, or even an OT3). I also sort of wonder what happens to the trio when they get older (do they turn out like Kate Beaton's Mystery Solving Teens?), or do they get even more badass? Only you, Yuletide writer, can say!

Taken all together, these seem sort of random, and I guess they are; for me the fun of Yuletide is just as much in the giving as in the receiving. I hope the same goes for you, and that you can find something in here to tickle your fancy.

♥,
Me
