My suggestion is that you avoid finishing BSG. It's just not worth the pain and suffering.
I like that "Cold War" vid a lot, but I think it definitely requires knowing BSG. And knowing how broken the source material is, how artless the ending is, which is something the vid doesn't try to change or mess with.
