I like Horace. I don't think I've actually read any Ovid in either language.
Interesting re: McCullough. I do really think you'd like Lamarre, too, though it sounds like McCullough gets a little deeper into the actual content of the poems, whereas Lamarre is as much interested in the function of poetry and of writing, and the relationship between them. The whole era is fascinating.
