Watsonian and Doylist are terms the Sherlockians use--Watsonian refers to explanations for things in the text that are derived in-text (i.e. on the level of John Watson M.D., who narrates the stories), while Doylist explanations are ones that go outside the text to the author to explain things. :) I'm not sure how to map those on to Dante's categories, though I think allegorical may be Doylist in this case, given Lewis' purpose, and literal would be Watsonian. I think psychological is my critical fannish, and spiritual can go under laudatory fannish.
