What's weird to me is how much this book didn't affect me when I was a kid. I'm really not sure why, though that was also the phase where I inchoately accepted the idea of heaven/some of the things I was hearing in CCD every week. I remember being really enthralled with the apocalypse aspects--the actual destruction is grand and terrifying, and I liked that a lot. But now that I think about it I find it all kinds of disturbing. I'm not sure I want to read this one again ever, really.
