Well, my one standout memory from CCD that year is my challenging the teacher on the literal truth of Genesis and being totally dissatisfied with her explanation that it was more like a story or a metaphor--as far as I was concerned, either it was all literally true or it all wasn't, and I was going to side with science. But as part of my not perceiving what Lewis meant w/r/t Christianity when I was reading the books, I totally believed what Lewis says in text about the real Narnia in Aslan's country and all that. The faith of a nine-year-old in authors and in books is actually vaguely frightening, looking back on it. Which leads back into my last paragraphs above.
I still don't really understand religious belief on an emotional level, though I wish I did.
