I'd at least concede that the part in the middle about recruiting the team was an X-Men story, but the beginning and the end aren't appropriating history, they're legitimately telling a story about history.
*nods* Okay, I think I get what you mean. I am still working out what I think about *history* in these sorts of situations. I should probably be thinking of it in terms of the historical imagination, too/instead.
