I watched this with two of the awesome housemates. Which was convenient, as we frequently had to pause the playback to howl with laughter.
I actually sort of don't have much to say, other than, can it be next week please? Housemate N and I totally realized that Mals was River without realizing it, because Mals totally made a River entrance, but of course then River forgot that she was River when she regenerated, which…yeah. I did find the "you need my parents' permission!" whatnot mildly skeevy, but on the other hand I can totally see that as Mals maneuvering the trio to where she wanted them (i.e. the precipice of revelation, as we saw her do to Amy and Rory in the flashback), so all in all I'm fine with it I suppose. I also enjoyed how ultimately the episode was not actually about the Nazis or Hitler. Though, I really sort of want to make a River Song & Indiana Jones vid about how archæologists will fuck your shit up with extreme prejudice if you are a Nazi. Lara Croft maybe can come too.
I wouldn't be surprised if we see the Doctor and River get married before the end, which…would be quite something, really. Except that she says she isn't the weddings type? We'll see. I'm less keen on her having used up all her regenerations to save him, but it is what it is, I suppose. And it seems that in the judgment of the wider universe they're both war criminals, which again is fitting. I hope Moffat and company actually have the guts to return to the themes of culpability they raised earlier, i.e. in 6x07. For the time being, my answer to Amy's question of, "How do people find you, Doctor?" is still "They follow the trail of corpses!"
I actually don't think it's the Flesh!Doctor that we saw get shot in 6x01, actually. Not that it matters in some senses anyway.
Postscript: Oh, Rory!
I also really want to know what the question is.
