Re: "Sleepless, Burning Life," just from reading your posts I doubt you're going to go on about characters' "pale" and "nut-brown" skin to the point of fetishization. Which was my main problem with it in the end; I liked the metaphysical clockwork made real aspect.
I really liked "Brilliant" too. Part of my problem in writing this review was that I read 3/4 of the book in March and the last 1/4 yesterday, so not as many things stood out as might have otherwise.
I am excited for SP2! It is on my short list of books to buy in Q4.
