Earthquake!

4.0, ~one second long, less than one mile from where I'm sitting. If it had lasted any longer I'd have gotten under my desk. No damage. 

The epicenter was SE of the main Berkeley campus, under one of the dorms, right on the Hayward fault. Note to self: buy some flats of water and non-perishable food this weekend.

It was…slightly intense. I am no longer sanguine about my building as a great earthquake building, not that I really was before. The damn thing's made out of concrete and you can totally tell.

I saw the windows in Evans shaking. Not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing.

The huge irony is that they were supposed to be testing the earthquake warning siren on campus today.

They did test it! I didn't hear the sirens, but other people did.

Yuck, that's a decent rumble. Hopefully it's just letting off some steam.

Twice in one day, no less, nearly the same magnitude. I'm hopeful that this is a stress-release too… There were also a pair of them last month, further away down the fault from me, roughly the same strength.
