What is wrong is that they closed. I miss Cody's Books, and I even miss the old Waldenbooks on Telegraph and the Barnes & Noble on Shattuck (where Staples is now), because the Walden had a pretty good fiction buyer and the B&N had a great selection of computer books, even better than the Cody's selection. Ahem. And Black Oak, despite its idealistic pricing, had an awesome used non-fiction selection that vied with UPB's new books.
I remember Pret fondly from the research month I spent mostly in London, twelve years ago, and subsisted on BL sandwiches, Pret sandwiches, and not quite Japanese noodle dishes from one place near KCL. Heh.
