I feel like that can be said of all of Jarman's films (even as someone who watches a lot of things that are "unusual" by mainstream standards, Jarman definitely has a style of his own), and if you liked this and would enjoy other vaguely-historically-themed pieces I'd highly recommend Caravaggio and Sebastian (Jarman's very first movie, where St. Sebastian is killed by his fellow Roman soldiers for not being gay enough, basically).
