If you're in Europe at any point in the next few months, try going to the Royal Museum for Central Africa in Brussels. It's (in)famous for having a permanent exhibition that dates back to before Congo gained independence, and it's like a time capsule back to colonial days. The exhibits, the accompanying texts - it's a little breathtaking.

They're going to renovate the exhibition starting halfway through 2013 and change it into something totally different, so this is a last chance to see it in its original form. I really wish they'd decided to keep it and make it into a museum of a museum, because we can really use more uncomfortable reminders.
