The Forty-Part Motet in The Cloisters, New York

In happier news, Janet Cardiff's The Forty Part Motet is the first work of contemporary art ever to be installed in The Cloisters, New York. I saw it at the Art Gallery of Ontatario earlier this year and called it "one of the most transporting experiences I've ever had in a museum." If you're in New York between now and 8 December 2013, you owe it to yourself to go see this.

I think you would like it. It's so, so amazing as an experience--it sounds kind of boring described, I guess, but once you're there in person it's wild. I stumbled onto it at the AGO and spent 15 minutes just sitting and standing there listening to it.

It's so amazing! It was amazing in the AGO and I'm sure it will be equally amazing in The Cloisters. I wish it were staying for another month so I could see it again, truly. Her art in general is really awesome.
