Well, so, I guess nearly nine years ago now, I sat down and wrote an 80K magical pirate novel in about six weeks. This is from the sequel, which I got nearly 20K words into before careening to a screeching halt over questions about the underlying worldbuilding: how far alternate historical fantasy did I want this to go? Had I made the right decisions for the characters at the end of the first book? Too many Quakers? Enough people of color? Am I just rewriting Quicksilver with magic, ladies, and natural disasters? Is that a bad thing?
I don't know. I still know exactly how the book goes even all these years later. Maybe I should just write it and see what happens. The first one, I daresay, is definitely readable.
