I polished off the first two in like two days, but I couldn't advise anyone to skip Unnatural Death, which is so strange and has so much interesting stuff going on in the subtext, and which really does come back around in T9T in particular. And I enjoyed T5RH rather more than other people seem to--the atmosphere and the descriptions are great, as is the writing just as prose. It's not the one I'd reread first, but it's definitely worth reading imo. (I did wholly ignore the train schedules, because I wasn't reading these books for the mysteries.) But, I was also already planning to read all 11 novels, so I'm a bit of an outlier.
I need to read Dunnett next!
Re: Peter POV, iirc there is one scene from his POV, in Italy, not Oxford.
