Got a guy friend of mine to buy the magazine in my stead today. Then all of us had fun mocking the other comics in the rag (I'd be interested in hearing Kodansha's rationale for publishing HOLiC in YM, and Chobits before that. Chobits is a bit more YM-ish, but if I had to speculate, I'd guess it's an attempt to boost the mag's circulation). Link to the scanned pages can be found here thanks to the good [info]scottishrefugee, who volunteered to scan.

"Please...take care of Kimihiro-kun."

He's not alone anymore,
he doesn't want to be alone anymore.

[02]
Doumeki?: Thank you for the meal today.

Fortune-teller: Not at all, it's mutual.
Thank you for the delicious sake.

You're a drinker too, Shizuka-kun, I see. Next time we'll use some of my treasured aged sake.

Doumeki: Then I'll bring awamori. [TN: Awamori is rice brandy. High proof.]

WatanukI: Will they just drink that and talk alcohol again?

Kohane: Here.

FX: Smooth

Give this to Yuuko-san and Mokona-kun.

Watanuki: Thanks.
They'll be pleased.

Kohane: I hope so.

[03]
Watanuki: Because it was so good,

When Yuuko-san learns that just he and I ate it, I wonder what sort of fate we'll meet. Mokona too.

Kohane: I'm glad.

Will you teach me again?
Cooking.

Watanuki: Of course.

So that you can let your mother eat it too.
Right.

[04]
Kohane: ...Yeah.

[05]
Doumeki: ...However,

That mother really has forgiven that girl living apart from her.

Watanuki: I heard she was persuaded by the old lady and Kohane-chan.

It seems it took a while, but
In the end, she shut up and let go of her hand.

Kohane-chan really has grown able to smile a lot.

Doumeki: Yeah.

[06]
Watanuki: That's why I'm certain her mother will change as well.

Since Kohane-chan has changed that much.

FX: Sudden stop

Doumeki: ...That girl--

She had a hunch about giving the balloon to her mother.

[07]
Watanuki: Why?

Doumeki: That girl,

If possible, she wanted to repay it to you.

Watanuki: Since it was Kohane-chan's,

It's fine if Kohane-chan gave it to the person she wanted to give it to.

[08]
Doumeki: ...If that had been there, [TN: "Balloon" is being read "that."]

When something happened to you, she said it might have been able to save you.

Watanuki: ...I've made her worry, haven't I.
Kohane-chan.

Doumeki: .....

Watanuki: ...You know,

[09]
I was always thinking that

"I have to be here."

I was also thinking that it was because my parents died, and I was the only one left, but

Somehow, I've come to have a different feeling.

[10]
Doumeki: ...Different how?

Watanuki: Dunno.

'Cause I don't remember.

[11]
Doumeki: What d'you mean?

Watanuki: That's how it is.

But,
Even if I don't remember,

[12]
As long as there are people who remember about me,

I've come to think that I want to be here.

The fact that Watanuki says that he wants to be where he is, coupled with Kohane's unmistakeable look of foreboding when she says that she hopes Yuuko and Mokona will be happy, merely reinforces the obvious, that there is stormy weather ahead.

Thank you very much for sharing ^^

It does seem to be heading for stormy waters. Poor Watanuki, he has sorta doomed himself by voicing out his want to live.

God I really hope that this doesn't come to a bad ending - I mean all we want if for Domeki and Watanuki live to fight another day - I'll never forgive them if they do that - although that hasn't stopped other stories from having sucky endings! Boo!

that really does tag watanuki with a rather misfortunate continuation. >.< Wanting to live on means you're gonna suffer a lot in order to live, or die in the fight.
GAH

Thanks for translating <3

Thanx for your translation, as always! Darn it, I almost feel like asking you if you could send me the pages, so that I could scan them, but Italy is too far away from you, I guess T___T

Seriously, the postage is the same no matter how far it goes. If you're willing to step up, I'm quite willing to send them off to you. The only problem would be Italy's postal system--I've had it delay some of my stuff. Any thoughts?

Well, the quality of Italy's post system is rather variable, but it often depends on when you send stuff - for instance, during Christmas it's bound to be quite late; on the other hand, last month my sister sent me a letter from Scotland and I received it after 2 days. At this point, airmail could just work out well, I think.

All right, let's go for it. I'm sort of on a campaign to see how many countries I can send post to from my teeny post office anyway. Message me your address and I will send them off. :-)

Thank you so much for the translations, really.
I only wish that Watanuki's doomed future isn't foreshadowed in each new chapter we get. The more doomed of a character he seems, the sadder I get. :(

But I guess it's still a good thing that he wants to live.

I don't think Watanuki is actually doomed in the sense that he's going to die (although it is odd that no one from the HOLiC side has kicked the bucket yet, when you compare with T:RC). Predestination was the name of the game around the time of X, but the repeated stuff in HOLiC about changing the future by changing oneself, changing through meeting other people, can't all come to nothing in the end, I think. Though I guess Watanuki could still die. He's already put a lot on the line, even if he doesn't remember it.

I can also help on scanning but I lived in Canada. Or even I can ask my friend in Japan if she can scan your mag =)

Holy crap, wow. That's insane, I posted them Tuesday morning.

Did you make a post on clamp_now? Or shall I?

Meh, too impatient, I'll do it. :-) MANY THANKS!!

Also, can I just go ahead and send you the pages of 161 when I get them?

Ha ha, it's our post system that's insane. Either it's as slow as death, or it goes faster than light itself XDDD

No, I didn't, instead I posted them on the Tsubasa Forums, and also sent a message to ashura-sama.

You're welcome, I did it gladly ^^

And sure, post them right away ;)
