TRC 194 translation
Jul. 18th, 2008 09:10Going to bed instead of doing this last night was a good decision. Long live the Gion Matsuri. Kyoto banzai.

The two whose fates have interacted continuously
From way back, in a certain place
From now until the far future
Chapitre 194: The Tone Color That Calls the Princess
[page 2]
FX: Bells
Sakura: Bells...?
FX: Bells
A sound like something is striking...
Jr.: I can't hear!
Anything!!
FX: Bells
Sakura: I can hear it from the ruins...
It's as if..
FX: Bells.
[page 3]
Sakura: It's like it's calling...
...The water...
The reservoir...?
[page 4]
[page 5]
Sakura: Shaoran-kun!!
Jr.: !?
[page 6]
FX: Thump
[page 7]
FX: Bam
FX: Clench
Jr.: Are you all right?!
Sakura: ...You musn't..
Shaoran...
It's dangerous...
[page 8]
Sakura: Stay...
Away...
Fujitaka: Princess!
FX: Sudden
Jr.: Your Majesty!
After she said she heard the sound of bells,
She let out a scream...
Fujitaka: She's lost consciousness.
[page 9]
FX: Breathing
Fujitaka: Sometimes she's like this when she has a vision, Princess Sakura.
...What did she say?
Jr.: ...It seems she heard the sound of bells from the ruins...
It seems she saw the reservoir.
She called my name...
And told me to stay away, because it was dangerous...
[page 10]
Fujitaka: When the purification is over, the princess won't enter that place until the next ritual...
Jr.: It was a vision of the purification ground tomorrow...wasn't it.
Fujitaka: I don't know.
Even the current priest, the queen, hasn't seen what will happen tomorrow.
Jr.: ....
[page 11]
Jr.: Can I not go to the purification ground tomorrow?
Fujitaka: During the purification only the priest can be there.
On the last day the royal family, and even the priest, cannot enter.
And you're not a member of the royal family.
Much less someone from this world.
[page 12]
Fujitaka: Even if you met the princess in the reservoir during the purification, the ritual was able to continue like that.
The queen and Yukito-kun said that the reservoir had forgiven your presence there.
For the sake of Princess Sakura, whom the water loves.
Jr.: Then...!
Fujitaka: However
The princess told you "it's dangerous!" in her vision.
Jr.: ...Yes.
[page 13]
Fujitaka: You have family waiting in your world.
To let you encounter danger is...
Jr.: I will go.
That she said "Stay away, it's dangerous"
I think means that the danger is to the princess herself.
I don't know what I can do, but
If there's something I can do, I will go.
[page 14]
Fujitaka: As her father,
I really should be by her side.
But in this country the rituals at the ruins are important.
Since three she's worked that hard at the rituals of priesthood,
For it to all come to naught
At her seventh birthday...
[page 15]
Jr.: I too
Learned various rituals and techniques from my father, so I understand.
What you start, you have to finish.
If you don't, it will come back to the one who started it.
[page 16]
Fujitaka: That's so in your country as well.
Jr.: Yes.
Besides
...We promised.
That next time I'd protect her.
[page 17]
Fujitaka: ...Please take care of Sakura.
The fated seventh birthday--
What does that tone color
Play on the young princess?
We see another side of Fujitaka in this one. Tune in next week, at last. I'm off to buy the new edition of Clover.
Okay, I just want to say that I think the musical metaphor here is really interesting. The reservoir sounds like bells, and the reservoir plays on Sakura as on an instrument. Let's remember that this manga is called "Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicle." Princess Sakura's wings (her memories) are the chronicle of the reservoir. Obviously titles of things are important, and I think it's interesting to note that, as opposed to "Cardcaptor Sakura" the things explicitly named in T:RC's title are inanimate objects. Very interesting.

Date: 2008-07-19 05:37 (UTC)You're right about the name. Was it stated as a watere reservoir or is just a possible and probable translation I'd like to know? It's intriguing, to say the least.
I want to know how will Syaoran bypass the laws not of men, but of the water itself, which forgave him once it says and may not like another interruption. I'm intrigued.
Thanks again for the translation, it was much needed if there won't be a chapter again for 2 weeks.
