Oh I'll play your game, you rogue.

Ahem. Some of you may remember that a few weeks ago I had a minor dustup, at one remove, with the esteemed [livejournal.com profile] johncwright. Well, today the awesome [personal profile] copperbadge, who is made of win (and for my money, a far better writer than Wright) went where angels fear to tread, as it were, with a PSA about Wright's latest rant, and from all appearances managed to provoke Wright into disabling the comments on his journal, as well as calling certain unnamed bloggers (cough! Sam! cough!) "craven" in a subsequent post. And for the icing on the cupcake of fail, Wright is apparently married to a certain panelist who was last seen being incredibly offensive at WorldCon. (This is the part that points out how none of this is actually funny.)

Still, I'd be lying if I said I didn't find this all terribly amusing, partly out of schadenfreude. But the real kicker is that Sam has now posted the first chapter and a half of his new novel, The Valet of Anize, as a result of all this. So what are you waiting for? Go read it! Genderqueer space opera, that's what we need more of, I say. That and silkpunk.

It could have also been Jeff Vandermeer. He called that man exactly he is -- stupid and crazy on his weblog.

Read copperbadge's posts, and the followed the link to this response: http://notesfromthegeekshow.blogspot.com/2009/08/open-letter-to-john-c-wright.html

So now I've been introduced to two awesome writers to counteract the Wright family fail.

So thanks.

Oh, Hal Duncan! His blog is awesome; I shall have to check out his post on this topic. I liked Vellum a lot too.
