First off, via [personal profile] samvara, this awesome video. It seriously contains more awesome per ounce than a neutron star does matter--and that's a lot of awesome. (P.S. If people in Australia actually refer to the PM as "K.Rudd," that automatically makes it ten times more awesome.) Also, my bird started dancing to it, which is a serious sign of approval.

I've been baking things lately--rosemary shortbread and pumpkin cookies. Next time, though, I might throw maybe a teaspoon of lemon zest into the shortbread dough, and for the pumpkin cookies, I follow a slightly modified version:
  • Decrease the sugar to 1 & 2/3 cups and the oil to 3/4 cup. Use olive oil.
  • Double the cinnamon and add 1 teaspoon each nutmeg and ginger, plus 1/2 teaspoon cloves.
  • Use 1/2 (2 cups) regular flour and 1/2 (2 cups) white whole wheat flour.
  • Double the milk. Alternatively, use 2 tablespoons milk and 2 tablespoons dark rum.
  • Decrease baking time slightly--my oven gets the cookies perfect in about 11 minutes.
YUM.

Yes, we totally refer to Kevin Rudd as K. Rudd --- our habit of shortening of things kicks in there.

I've had the baking urge too, but not actually done any --- these recipes look like they might cure my bakers-block! Thank you for sharing them!

Since they are pumpkin cookies, and the pumpkin flavor is very strong, it's fine. But for most cookies, it would not work.

oh!! i never ate pumpkin cookies!

Only regular cookies ;_____;

When i read Harry Potter i really never understan how they take pumpkin juice???
maybe the flavor of the pumpkin is different(different kind of pumpkin???)Because it's imposible to do something sweet with them here only salty things like mash potato with mash pumpkin!
or soup or thigs like that

Pumpkin juice mystifies me too.

I guess what it has to be is maybe a strained puree, like a smoothie?
