To Con.TXT 2010 in Maryland this weekend!

I am modding the Star Trek Beyond the Shows panel at 5pm on Friday afternoon. From the panel description by melannen:

Star Trek paracanon! Come talk Rihannsu-verse, and how Marshak & Culbreath got away with that, and Admiral Uhura head of Starfleet intelligence, and Pike/Number One comicsverse, and the first time Jimmy Kirk ran away from home and nearly plummeted to his death, and so much more. Spock/Saavik, New Frontier, and all of the other things that make up the television shows and movies are only the beginning. If you aren't familiar with Star Trek paracanon, come and get an introduction and some starting points!

 

So if you're going to be there and if you like the Star Trek paracanon, stop by and bring your paracanon passions with you! There will be book giveaways/swapping, linkages, and hopefully a great conversation. I don't know everything there is to know about the paracanon by any means, and I'm looking forward to learning more too.

That sounds so cool! I read at least 50 of the books before I saw an episode of the TV series (two original series episodes and then the second season of TNG, thanks Aussie TV!) and I was always sort of disappointed in the show compared to the wonders of the novels.

I was reading a surprisingly good one, Crossroad, tonight, and yeah, the books are able to fix a lot of the glaring problems with the shows. And some of them are flat-out amazing.

OMG, you should come! It is awesome--it is a con that refuses to choose whether it is a convention or a conference or a workshop. This year there is going to be a fancy ball on Friday night too, since it's the 10th anniversary.
