starladyI'm kind of obsessed with NPR, and I was sad to hear that senior news analyst Daniel Schorr died this morning. Personally, I think reporting on yourself being on Nixon's enemies list is all the tribute one needs.
Went with my family to see The Sorcerer's Apprentice last weekend. I had low expectations for a live-action movie based on a classic cartoon, but despite Nicholas Cage + magic, it was pretty much a dud, with bonus annoyance for no female apprentices and for the two younger white protagonists getting mugged by a black dude in one of the NYU subway stations at like 8pm on a weeknight. Dear Hollywood: This isn't the 70s or the 80s, Manhattan (and most of the city) isn't dangerous anymore, stop spreading lies about and denigrating New York while simultaneously pimping it as the epitome of all that is cool, kthnxbai.
My bird demanded to be let out and picked up by me this morning: I really am forgiven, it seems. I brought him a paper cup tray to chew this afternoon to seal the deal, just in case.
