I am writing this from the line for the cosplay burlesque panel. I always forget how much fun I have at Otakon until I actually get there and then I remember that it is fucking amazing. So many fans! So much awesomeness!

This year for the first time I managed to get a seat for the AMV contest, and I will have a post with recs from that when I can get to a place with a stable Internet connection (Otakon: you totally should subsidize free wifi for your membership, it's the C21st, IJS)--it was amazing, as you might have guessed. Apparently someone pulled the fire alarm this afternoon, but we were at lunch so it was not a bother.

I bought nothing on my first pass through the dealers' room, and then I bought manga in English (Vertical, Inc. They are amazing!) when I went back. Given that I started attending Otakon for anime alone, and mostly the dealers' room at that, and that now I only buy manga in Japanese and don't buy anime, I feel like I have moved full circle along a spiral.

The line's moving, more later!

The cost of wifi in the BCC is astronomical. Just so you know.

Well there was more than one free hotspot. Each hotel had their own. But I was replying to your comment that Otakon should subsidize free wifi for the attendees. We would, if the BCC didn't charge an astronomical amount for it. But even if we did, I doubt they could accommodate 30k users. AT&T cellular service was having issues, let alone some shoddy wifi.

Perhaps we have leverage for hardball, but we don't on the food situation, so maybe not. (They give staff vouchers, but the vouchers are less than it costs to have an actual meal.)

The Hilton itself is a lot nicer and more accommodating.
