So tired. Salt is awesome, you should go see it NOW. More on that later.

The awesome community [community profile] eid_ka_chand is responsible for some of my absolutely favorite fanworks (and I swear I will write a post reccing them soon--maybe you should do that by the end of the festival, self! sounds like a good idea, self! oh wait you haven't explained the fest yet, duh), and is running its annual Eid-al-Fitr challenge. Fanworks of all kinds focusing on Muslim characters are more than welcome, and that goes double for vids!

The sign-up post is here.

Sleep now.

I aspire to write Pirate Rabbi/Barbary Pirates for combination eid_ka_chand/daysofawesome, but I think it's a maybe next year proposition, alas. I don't know enough about Barbary Pirates yet to write it.

I will have to ponder whether I can commit to writing it, but I wandered over to the character-list to suggest a couple anyway.

(I write Aisha as Muslim culturally, anyway.)

Yayyyy! I signed up, but now I'm like "what should I write? Some Little Mosque on the Prairie or another fandom?" Choices, choices.

Now I want fic about Julian Bashir's relationship with his Muslim heritage. That's probably a little too speculative for the fest, though, since it's got no canon basis apart from his family name and one line in one episode about his descent from a poet (Persian or Indian, I can't recall which) named Bashir.

ETA: I found an episode transcript and the story doesn't specify where Singh el-Bashir was from, leaving even less basis for guessing.
