starlady: the TARDIS on a dark street (blue light special)

Yeah, this one was very Neil Gaiman, wasn't it? [personal profile] epershand says why in greater detail than I.

Other than that…the Doctor/TARDIS are my new OTP, again. I loved her take on their shared history: "You never took me where I wanted to go!" "I always take you where you needed to go." And on and on, oh, it was brilliant. I am continually impressed by Matt Smith's ability to play old while looking younger, or to play young while looking old, and the TARDIS actress did it splendidly too. And maybe the "there are more Time Lords!" ploy was cheap, but I felt that the cheapness averaged out at the end when the Doctor countered House bloviating about having killed "hundreds of Time Lords" with the devastating truth: "I killed them all."

We all want to be forgiven, don't we? I wish I could believe that was in the cards. I continue to love how Amy sees right through the Doctor, incidentally. And I liked that we did get some of the "BTW, Rory spent 2000 years as a Roman waiting for you!" undercurrent, even if it was only in Amy's head. Things are very…still waters run deep, that's what.

Speaking of water, the only water in the forest is River. And the Pequod is a sad word. Wherever this is going, it's not happy. Speaking of wherever it's going, [personal profile] kouredios has picked up on an interesting motif.

I did like, at the very end, that the Doctor and the TARDIS said farewell by saying "hello," not "I love you" (which we all knew already, and which she did say as she faded out). And the Doctor trying to pretend he wasn't crying! Oh, DOCTOR. Also, oh RORY, and his "I'm a nurse!" feelings. I love that.

I loved this episode so much I'm still flailing over it! The idea that the TARDIS stole the Doctor fills me with glee.

I do hope the "waiting for you for 2,000 years" thing is building up to something.

While I love Rory and his feelings, I think if he has to blatantly proclaim he's nurse again I'll feel like thwacking something. They've done that three episodes in a row now!

when he announced his title last year, i kept thinking he was writing about River, but turned out, not quite. :) 'the only water in the forest is River'...is that too obvious? must be a twist to that. Can't wait.

I think it was actually "the river", but same difference really. I can't wait either!
