The outlying rain bands yesterday and earlier today were bad enough, but Typhoon Ma-on means business.

You just reminded me that I need to take the laundry poles down! I always feel bad, though, because typhoons where I am are delightful: lovely cool winds, and when it passes beautiful blue skies....

Last I checked landfall was moving progressively south in Wakayama. My spawn are looking forward to another day of no school *face of woe*

I am jealous of your blue skies! It looks like we'll be back to the usual hot, hazy, chance of random thunderstorm directly on Thursday. Except for Sunday, when it's going to be 33º and partly cloudy, no chance of rain. So it's going to feel like 35º at least.

Tomorrow afternoon and Wed will probably be clear! (hot and horrible, but blue....)

We have all the windows open now. The wind goes by like a passing train *thinks catbus express thoughts*

Perfunctory googling indicates that it's a super typhoon/nearly a category 2 hurricane in U.S. parlance.

And yes, that is almost all of the four main islands of Japan covered by it.

Doshisha shut down the seikyo and every single convenient service on campus because of this thing. I just spent all day in Imadegawa, enjoying dry summer weather with a very pleasant breeze ;)

I think they were originally expecting it to keep bearing northwards; I think most schools had off today.

I spent the day inside reading fic and revising a paper, and then I went running and it was still hot. I should be revising the paper more now, but instead I'm writing fic.
