Because, dear reading list, I know I got this from one of you, or a comment to one of your posts--who was it who recommended Mori Kaoru's Otoyomegatari, and what about it did you specifically mention besides the British anthropologist?

(I like it so far, but I'm trying to remember what else I was expecting for review purposes.)

I've mentioned it to several people, but I can't remember whether you were one.

My talking points are usually the art, the details of daily life, Amira being awesome, Karluk being cute when flustered by his marriage, and the anthropologist who may or may not be part of the Great Game.

....I'm horribly in love with it and might have recced it, but it was primarily for the "OMG HAND DRAWN AND INKED PATTERNS AND OMFG THE CLOTHES and I want to have the artist's babies!".

Um, hi. Artbrain. =__=''

edit - and it was not recently, so no, that wasn't me. =P

Not me, then, as I don't think I've talked about it since surgery. Could be wrong -- I won't claim my memory's sense of time is 100% right now.

Rushthatspeaks would be my next guess, but she only mentioned it in passing three weeks ago. Hmm.

I definitely mentioned it about three weeks ago, as Larry says, and you replied to that entry, so maybe that was it? I talked about the art and the anthropologist and the way it's a reasonably accurate portrayal of a place and time in which the mangaka does not live. If it wasn't me, I don't know; I got said manga rec from Larry and Telophase about a year ago.

I could watch all day any scene of Someone Does A Task, be it shoot game, carve wood, embroider, make a grocery list -- if it's Mori depicting it.

Wasn't me either, I believe.

Was it the down-to-earth approach to Amira and Karluk's marriage? Or the down-to-earth approach to the life of that particular era and place in general?
