Because, dear reading list, I know I got this from one of you, or a comment to one of your posts--who was it who recommended Mori Kaoru's Otoyomegatari, and what about it did you specifically mention besides the British anthropologist? 

(I like it so far, but I'm trying to remember what else I was expecting for review purposes.)

Wasn't me either, I believe.

Was it the down-to-earth approach to Amira and Karluk's marriage? Or the down-to-earth approach to the life of that particular era and place in general?
