Dear Festividder
Oct. 23rd, 2014 20:57Dear Festividder,
First off, thank you for making me a vid! I love vids, and quite honestly I would be happy to see a vid in any of these fandoms. I have suggested music for some fo them, but please don't feel bound by what I've suggested, and I have no qualms about oft-vidded songs, either.
20th Century Boys series [Movies]
+ Arcade Fire, "Suburban War"
This is an epic manga, and I don't like the movies as much, but I still liked them quite a lot. Basically anything would make me very happy, but I especially like the interplay between the future and the past, and the urban-ness of the present scenes. I would also love a song from a Japanese artist for this vid, although the Arcade Fire song is the first one that leapt to my mind when I saw the first movie.
The Emperor's New Groove [Safety]
This is one of my favorite Disney movies, bizarrely enough, and I love how everyone kind of winds up where they should be, but better off, in the end; I also love its sly humor and its verbal wit, which admittedly are probably difficult to get across in a vid.
Maleficent [Safety]
+ Lady Gaga, "Heavy Metal Lover"
I love Angelina Jolie, and I loved this movie and how it was surprisingly feminist. Anything about Maleficent being the evil queen we totally root for would be awesome. (Music even more of a suggestion than normal, because I know not everyone likes Gaga, but this is the song I was considering for an epic "Angelina Jolie's movies. All of them" vid, and I think it could conceivably work here too.) EVIL QUEENS. They are actually kind of great?!
Moonrise Kingdom [Safety]
+ Arcade Fire, "City With No Children"
The thing that got me about the movie is that the adults are mostly less rational than the kids; the song suggestion gets at that element of the movie, or at least it does in my head. Regardless, I really liked the movie, and the various screwed-up families it portrays, and how they are somewhat less screwed up by the end. Anything getting at that would be awesome.
Star Trek: The Animated Series (1973-74) [TV] ・Dreamwidth tag
+ Jonas Brothers, "Kids of the Future"
I really love TAS in all its cracked-out color-inconsistent glory. I'm not sure why my brain decided that this song was the perfect vidsong for TAS, but it did; feel free to take that with an extra heaping of salt. (Possibly it was about Spock's journey as shown in the episode about his kas'wan? Okay, brain.) Anything, absolutely anything, about the greatness of this series will make me so, so happy.
Trance [Safety]・My review on DW
I really liked this movie, and I really liked the way it totally faked out the audience into thinking that Simon was a good guy when in actuality he's a terrible human being. I really liked the colors and how parts of it were so surreal. Things I did not like: Rosario Dawson's character indulging Simon's shaving fetish, the violence against her character at multiple points in the narrative. But anything colorful or surreal or action-y--and maybe even something reframing the movie from her point of view--would be awesome.
Thank you, Festividder! I am super excited to see whatever you come up with, for serious.
<3 and vids,
Me
