Wow. It's more dramatic now that I've taken the time to actually read what FWR was saying. Heartless bastard that he is, he's pretty much completely correct in everything he says in this chapter--not least because most of what he says is exactly what Haruka said in this week's chapter of xxxHOLiC. And have we ever had these sort of closeups on his face?

Also, the hand motif that's been running throughout the series finally reveals its origins/point. The spread pages in this chapter remind me a bit of the first Utena opening, but that's probably just because I sang that song yesterday at karaoke.

I'm a little REALLY surprised that it all came down to a single moment of hesitation. I wonder how much Syaoran must kick himself for not grabbing her hand then? :P?
If Syaoran's going back in time to save Sakura (probably by grabbing her??), I have a bad feeling something terrible will happen as a result of breaking the ritual rules. Maybe the water will backlash? >_>?

D: Yea, they'll most likely get an END GAME, and go for a Restart...

Certainly. Who else would use a Fabulous!Feather design as Seal of Death while always maintaining that Uncle Sam "I want YOU" pose? And don't get me started on his flawless Ziplock entrances. I tell you, he's got style! ;D

Yeah, Clamp really can be brutal at times, and this chapter was definitely one of them--one single freaking moment of hesitation, and the princess is dead, and then Jr. is coughing up blood.

And personally I'm not really satisfied with the visual explanation for the hesitation, either; I'm hoping Jr. explains himself at some point.

And usually people disregard FWR's word since he's supposed to be a "villian" but then you have to remember that CLAMP really has no 'bad' characters...they just use different ways to obtain the same thing.

Yes, indeed, though I do think that there is still a bit of a moral difference between Jr. and FWR in the actions they'll do for the sake of their wishes; Jr. hasn't murdered any 7-year olds that I know of, unless we're supposed to count apple-kid from inside the time loop, in which case they are equal.

But yeah, FWR and Haruka must have the same book of philosophy, or whatever. Actually Haruka speaks the lines but I can't help thinking of Yuuko, since she's in the background on that page.

Yea but I think the differance is only there right now because no 'innocent' person has stood in the way of R!Syaoran's desire yet. If a seven year old had put the seal of death on Sakura opposed to FWR I don't think it would have made any differance to R!Syaoran wanting to take him out, since as long as that person or thing is a hinderance to their desire they will do what they have to. If there's any distinction between the two right now I think it's that R!Syaoran does take other people's desires into a bit more consideration than FWR ever will. Like how he didn't kill C!Syaoran in Tokyo because it's what Sakura desired and maybe even why he didn't take R!Sakura's hand just now. Where FWR has always been most like Taishakuten imo~

Yeah, that is a good question about whether he made the right choice or not. There would have been negative consequences for certain, since rituals begun have to be ended, but would it have been worse than what did actually happen? it's hard to say.

My moneys on Sakura and Syaoran's real names being 'Tsubasa'. At least one of them, possibly both. CCS!Sakura had such a thing for wings it would be no surprise what so ever if she called her son Tsubasa.

Man Kuro-tan's going to be pissed when he finds he's the only one using a real name. Remember what Yuuko said about giving your real name gives them control over you or something. We have Tsubasa-sakura, Tsubasa-syaoran and Yuui. Then Kuro-rin who as far as we know used his real one.

Kurogane is certainly the designated chump in T:RC. He was kept completely in the dark about most things for most of the action, etc, etc. It's interesting, actually, that he still has the faith in Fai and Jr. that he does.

You could very well be right about their real names, but I think we've seen enough physical wings (the mark of death on the princess, the form her memories took just before they were scattered) that their names could very well be something else as well.
