I don't know yet whether I'll be Stateside or in Japan this summer, which obviously makes it impossible to plan the summer cons, and I probably won't know for sure about that until early March. (Note to self: fill out relevant applications this week.) I really want to go to Sirens, WFC, and PCA, though that last depends on writing a decent paper for it.

But, yeah. Who else is going to be where? Are there any other cons on the west coast I should know about? (I'm aware of Fanime and SakuraCon.)

Pretty sure I'll be at Philcon this year. I'm annoyed at myself for missing it this past year. Probably will stop in at NY Comic Con if other friends are going. I don't tend to go travel much for cons, it's just too complicated with Shabbos.

Yeah, I'm sad I missed that one, since it's about 20 minutes from my house in Jersey.

It's more like 40 minutes for me, but yeah. I went two years ago, had a really good time, was planning to go again this year, then busy-ness plus other things on my mind intervened.

We'll be at WFC San Diego (plus a couple Phoenix cons), and are contemplating Sirens despite this. Other cons are unlikely.

I'm going to Potlatch in Santa Clara the weekend before FOGCon--it's a tiny con with good folks in attendance, I've really enjoyed it when I've gone in the past. Very much a part of the Serious Literary Affirmational Fans crowd though, so depends on if you're into that scene.

It took me a minute to parse that, and then I remembered the reference. I'm interested, but March is shaping up to be very busy; I'll let you know if I decide to go!

http://www.potlatch-sf.org/ -- at some point in the next few minutes there's apparently going to be an open discussion at Borderlands about what stuff people want to cover at the con this year.

I'm going to be trying to put together a set of events for the week between Potlatch and FOGcon for people who come to both; I'll keep you informed as those develop in case you're interested in any of them :)

Although, Japan would be cool for a summer, too!
I think I'm probably going there again this summer with my b/f, to visit my friend whose JET contract will end at the end of July. So we might go in June. Maybe we could see you in Japan!

Japan! Yeah, if I have the dates for the program I want to do right, the last day I could fly would be the Sunday of Wiscon, so they're basically incompatible. But there's a chance I may be swinging through Madison in May anyway.

And yes, totally, if we both go to Japan, we should hang out! I am going to be in Kyoto, if I go.

Ooooh - sadness about the WisCon incompatibility.

Our plans are inform thus far, but it might not work! Kyoto is one of the places we went last time, and I'd really like to see Tokyo (in addition to Muroran/Hokkaido, which we're going to by default). But! I will stay in touch about plans regardless, in case the things align.

Yeah, depending on where/when, I wouldn't mind night bussing it up to Tokyo or somewhere else for a weekend, I ♥ Tokyo. We'll definitely have to keep in touch about this!

Probably WisCon, maybe Sirens. I doubt I'll be able to afford both, and I hopefully have a place to stay for free/cheap at WisCon.

Yeah, accommodation is always tricky. I hope to see you at Sirens, though! It really was quite awesome, and the hotel rates were very reasonable after they were split several ways.

Yeah, it's probably a bit of a stretch, but I've heard good things about WFC, and you and some other people I know are going to be there for sure, which makes it more attractive this year.
