I'm leaning toward Captain Marvel for Best Graphic Story, and I welcome recommendations for other categories. (Also, I'm pretty sure that my definition of "fan" and the Hugos' is very different, given how often those awards go to professional writers. I'd be tempted to nominate [ profile] lettered for the "Best Fan Writer" category for Midnight Judges, in an alternate world in which "fan" meant what it actually means.)

I'm also happy to take recommendations for nominations for works by women and/or POC for the 1939 Retro-Hugos, which will cover works published in 1938. (Let's consider a discussion of the point of these awards, or lack thereof, to be tabled in perpetuity.)

I really am not opposed to broadening the 'fan writer' category so it actually covered all fan writing. I approve of nominating [ profile] lettered and may do the same myself.

I honestly can't think of any novels I want to nominate, though. I haven't read a lot of new novels this year.

No, they're probably eligible. The 'generally available electronic media' line was a recent change to the rules to make sure that 'fan writer' could include people writing stuff on their blogs and whatnot. Your second point is a good one, though.

You could ask her. Even if she said no, I bet she'd be flattered to be considered.

I'd be inclined to nominate Journey into Mystery Featuring Sif for the Graphic Novel, but then I didn't get very well with Captain Marvel. And Saga's had another great year, so a repeat there wouldn't be horrible, either.
