So, that's four sets of Shaorans and Sakuras by my count: originals, clones, CCS characters, and the parents of Watanuki and Shaoran Jr. I'm referring to this last set as "Lord Shaoran" and "Lady Sakura" to distinguish them from the CCS characters. The clones are dead, and the originals I refer to as "Princess Sakura" and "Jr."

CLAMP have totally psyched us out. I love it.

My view at this point is that Shaoran Jr.'s parents are from another world than that of CCS (and that the Sakura wearing the high school uniform who gives Lady Sakura the staff in this chapter is the Sakura from CCS). But don't ask me whether that means that HOLiC is in the same world as CCS or not.

Alternatively, Jr.'s parents are from CCS, and the high school-Sakura is from another world entirely.

Well, Yuuko says the Star Wand is the 'one and only Star Wand', so we can be sure HS!Sakura is CCS!Sakura from the end of the manga. So Jr's parents would come from a different world... then again, he is a Clow descendent, and Mommy!Sakura and Daddy!Syaoran do have the same magic circles as their CCS!counterparts...

Though from my thinking, I disagree with your "lady|Sakura =/= CCS|Sakura"
When I read the different world part, I think it "could" mean it like "past and present world"... sort of like with Shara/Shura in which they are the same country BUT different timeline.
And as well, when CCS|Sakura is talking to lady|Sakura, why would she say it as "This is your precious item, isn't it?" Which would mean that THIS power or star staff do not only below to herself but at the same time also belong to lady|Sakura too [maybe before lady|Sakura gave the star|staff away to Yuuko as the price for her son!?]. In which, Her past self [since she has dreamseeing power] through dream travel to her "future self" to give the power "back" to help with the situation. That's my 2 cents to this chapter ^^

I think you definitely have a point in that Lady Sakura and high school-CCS Sakura could be different versions of the same person, from different times. If that's so, I would think that means CCS-Sakura gave Lady Sakura the staff after Lady Sakura had given it to Yuuko (and at some point, Lady Sakura may give it back??).

HAHA~~ then that wouldn't be good then LOL it will be a neverending cycle of misery ^^;;; we don't need the journey event to happen over and over again for her son.
It is sort of like since HS|Sakura represent the past self and Lady|Sakura represent the present self... and through the dream... a person of its own self is able to meet with each other [in such way calling it as "a different world"]. Then the star staff in the same way also somehow will be "1 existence become 2" like the EGG ^__^ So, HS|Sakura sort of gave HER past Star Staff while Yuuko still own the "present" star staff from Lady|Sakura

Does that make sense?? XD

No, not a neverending cycle of misery--I meant that if they're the same person at different times, then in the original timestream Lady Sakura kept the staff until she gave it to Yuuko (and let's call this point D), and from points D to Z expected to have no staff. But her past self, at point A, gave her future self (Lady Sakura) the staff in a dream at point F. So now, from point B onward, Sakura would have no staff, unless Lady Sakura, at point H of her own timeline, gives her past self the staff back at point C, so that she has the staff to give to Yuuko at point D again: the present is always "now"," even if time has moved on.

Although, I do think the star staff could also be/have been quantum twinned as you describe, like Shaoran Jr. and the egg were.

I think I agree with what yamisakura38 is saying. After all, Lady Sakura could = CCS Sakura of the future. Since CCS SxS has magic, so like Clow Reed, they would probably be able to live a long time. I don't remember if Clow Reed's real age was ever given, so for example if the magician Clow Reed could live, say, 300 years, CCS SxS could possibly too and maybe that's when the events in TRC takes place? (CCS Fujitaka would be able to as well being a reincarnation of Clow, and Yukito's true form being Yue he could also...but that does make it kind of questionable about Touya living that long to deliver the item to Yuuko, then again due to Fujitaka, Touya would be a descendant of Clow also)

All in all, that idea sort of gives me a Sailor Moon feeling (Crystal Tokyo in the future). And if that's not the case, then fans shouldn't be so upset about what "CLAMP did to CCS SxS". And that would mean that TRC SxS-mama/papa are from an alternate world, which is what TRC is completely based around, and CCS is just a crossover to it (and seeing that time flows slowly between worlds, that would explain why CCS Sakura in the dream is still just a junior high school girl from the end of the original CCS Manga)

Ah well, whatever it is, I'm not going to let it bother me because it should all be answered by the end of the manga (which with the way things are happening here, may very well end up just being 27 volumes...though FWR doesn't seem like the type who can be so easily killed without a fight...but I get the feeling CLAMP just wants to end this series now)

Very good ideas, and most of which have been explained in several interviews to Clamp about both CCS and TRC. The problem is, those explanations in the interviews are being butchered in the story itself. It doesn't make sense any longer and the explanations have been proven lies, to say the least.
So far, everything is contradictory. All I want is for the mangas to end so I can say 'oh well, it's over.' Even if they end in total destruction, it would be better than all this brain frying stuff.

Lady Sakura looked enough like Yuuko to me to make me reread the first few issues of holic.

Yuuko tells Watanuki she's never met the cute girl that owns the staff while getting ready for the Tsubasa group to appear.

So...still worried about Yuuko, but am pleased Lady Sakura was drawn old enough to plausibly have a 6-year-old.

I was concerned about that at several points along the way (No Sakura don't be a teen mother no!), so I too was glad to see that Lady Sakura looks to be at least 30.

And now that you mention it, she does resemble Yuuko.
